The Element Project

Where Can You Find Krypton?
The earth’s atmosphere is 0.0001% krypton. This element is often used in light bulbs (a mixture of krypton and argon) and in many electronic devices. It is often used in lights because of its extremely fast response to an electric current. Krypton is well known for its green and orange spectral lines. There are also some signs that mix krypton with other gasses to create a green and yellow light. Krypton is most well known for playing an important role in the formation and production of high-powered gas lasers. Krypton is one of the products of uranium fission. When this element is in its solid form, it takes on a white and crystalline appearance with a cube-crystal face. In its natural state, it is a gas. Krypton is also used in some medicines to detect abnormal heart openings.
